Robbers escape with RM25,000

KUANTAN: An elderly couple lost more than RM25,000 in valuables when they were robbed by two masked men.

State CID liaison officer Asst Supt Noor Asyikin Shamsuri said the couple, who were in their 60s, were in their restaurant in Kuala Tembeling, Jerantut when the masked men came in at about 3.40am yesterday.

“The two men, believed to be foreigners, were armed with machetes. After tying up the husband and wife, the robbers ransacked the premises for valuables.

“They got away with RM5,200 in cash, RM20,000 in jewellery and a mobile phone,” ASP Noor Asyikin said here yesterday, adding that the couple were not hurt in the incident.
