Lucky escape for elderly couple as car crashes into house


KUALA TERENGGANU: An elderly woman's decision to fetch water from the kitchen probably saved her life when a car crashed into her house in Jalan Kamaruddin here Monday night.

Jamillah Abdul Rahman, 63, said in the incident at about 10.30pm, she had just left her bedroom when she heard a loud sound and saw that a Proton Wira had crashed through her bedroom wall.

"It was like a bad dream," she told reporters at her home here Tuesday.

Jamillah said it was fortunate that her husband Wan Harun Awang, 64, who had just returned from prayers, was sitting in the living room.

"I've often heard news of cars crashing into houses but never thought it would happen to me," she added.

Mohd Shah Isniza Ismail, the driver of the Proton Wira, said he was in a hurry to reach his fiancee's house and lost control of the vehicle. - Bernama
