KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty-four people were killed in road accidents on the fourth day of the 24th Ops Sikap launched in conjunction with Hari Raya.
According to a statement by Bukit Aman police on its website yesterday, motorcyclists accounted for the highest number of deaths (14), followed by motorists (six) and pedestrians (two).
There were two deaths involving a lorry and another vehicle.
The statement said 9,556 summonses were issued to traffic offenders in Friday’s operation.
Ops Sikap is aimed at encouraging defensive driving to reduce road accidents during the festive season.
